We believe that less rubbish is indeed less rubbish – it’s as simple as that.

Our mission is create a sustainable and cleaner world, starting right here on our cruises in the Bay of Islands. We encourage all of our fellow travelers to join us in this noble endeavour. So, before you step foot aboard our vessel, we kindly ask you consider your impact and avoid bringing items that will generate extra waste. 

One way to achieve this is by packing your essentials in reusable containers. By doing so, we can significantly reduce single-use plastic and packaging waste. Imagine the positive impact we can make if each of us commits to this small change. Together, we can send a powerful message about the kind of world we want to live in – one that cherishes our environment and its resources. A not often mentioned bonus of bringing your own containers means you may be able to take a small gift from the sea home (if we are lucky enough to catch or collect).

We're not all talk and no action. To facilitate this eco-friendly vision, we provide reusable coffee cups and water bottles free of charge throughout the entirety of your cruise. Our goal is to make it easy and convenient for you to make sustainable choices without compromising on your enjoyment.

BYO - DRINK BOTTLE

Speaking of water bottles, we don't sell single-use plastic water bottles on board. Instead, we offer reusable bottles for purchase. However, an even better option is to bring your own bottle (BYOB). On The Rock Adventure Cruise, you'll find our free water station conveniently located so you can refill your bottle as many times as you like. Embracing this small change will make a big difference in reducing plastic waste and conserving resources.

At The Rock Adventure Cruise, we take waste management seriously. We understand that our actions have consequences, and we strive to minimize our environmental footprint. To achieve this, we segregate our waste resources into three categories: recyclables (such as cans, plastic 1 & 2, glass, cardboard, and paper), compostables (food waste), and waste destined for the landfill.

Our commitment doesn't stop there. We have partnered with a waste management contractor who shares our vision of sustainability. Together, we work to ensure that as much waste as possible is diverted away from landfills. We even keep a close eye on our progress by weighing the landfill waste after every single cruise. By doing so, we hold ourselves accountable and continuously seek ways to improve our practices.
