The trip 27 seasons of guests keep talking about. Sleep on the water. Paddle through bioluminescence at midnight. Catch the snapper you'll be eating for dinner.

FAQs
Most guests don't. The Rock cruises the sheltered inner waters of the Bay of Islands, so the boat stays calm even when the open ocean is rougher. If you're prone to motion sickness, take a pill an hour before boarding (the pharmacy in Paihia stocks them) and spend time up on deck in the fresh air - that's all most people need.
We sail in almost all conditions. The Bay of Islands has 144 islands giving us shelter, so the skipper picks the best spots on the day. In the rare event we cancel for safety, you'll be offered a reschedule or full refund. Pack a light jacket year-round - it's cooler on the water than on land.
Yes - about a third of our overnight guests travel solo. The Rock is built for meeting people: shared meals, group activities, a relaxed bar onboard. Solo travellers can pick a shared cabin (matched by gender) or pay a small supplement for a private cabin. Most leave with new friends.
We host guests from 8 weeks to 80+. Most overnight guests are 20–45, but families, retirees and groups all cruise with us regularly. Under 18s must travel with a parent or guardian. Private charters can be tailored for younger groups or school trips.
